The second half started where we left off in the first and after 6 minutes we were 3-0 down. The second goal was the biggest talking point of the night as it was obvious to all apart from the officials that it was offside, the ball was fired in and was seriously deflected off the arm of Simon Whaley, who incidentally was one of 3 players in offside positions. But the goal stood and Burnley showed a lack of concentration as they continued to bemoan the offside goal, a shot from Leon was deflected off Caldwell leaving The Beast with no chance. Then in the 55th minute Owen Coyle took off Akinbiyi and Gudjonnson, replacing them with Paterson and McDonald. This was the kick start we needed, we were now starting to look hungry and wanting the three points. Pato scored twice in the 69th and 73rd minute leaving the final 15 minutes to become a bit of a nail biter. Too many players not performing tonight and It was very disappointing that we did not come away with at least a point from that second half performance, but hey we haven't won at Jokewell since 1932 so what's new. Highlights of the night for me were definitely the performances of Pato and Kevin McDonald, with McDonald really showing his potential class. Oh well another 3 points lost but we are still 5th in the League and Derby County at home on Saturday, onwards and upwards. |
