Dean Sturridge originally came to Wolves on loan in November 2001, and had an immediate impact on Wolves’ season from then on.

He scored against the Wombles at Selhurst Park on his debut and a hat trick against Barnsley on his home debut.

The fans took to him straight away, and the chants of ‘sign him up’ rang around Molineux. He won over the fans with his terrific pace and an eye for goal. On Christmas eve he signed a contract at Wolves.

Sturridge went on that season to score 27 goals in just 21 appearances, coming 2nd in the fans vote for their player of the season, but winning the PFA first division player of the season.

Sturridge has struggled this season with injuries but still managed to score 5 goals in 13 appearances, 2 of which coming from the substitutes bench.
