Hotshots - Walsall's Junior

The Bescot God
By Neil ' where's my cap gone' Curl March 10 2003
Walsall supporter Neil Curl profiles Walsall's new striking hero Junior.

Junior made his debut for Walsall against Reading as substitute, also on this day he received International clearance to play.

He impressed management on a short trial period, he also appeared in the pre-season friendly against the National side of Malawi.

Colin Lee decided he could be the the person to get the Saddlers their goals in a very combative 1st Division.

After taking a while to settle, it quickly became obvious that 'Junior' had a goal in him. His flamboyant style impressing not only Walsall Fans but other Fans who saw him in action.

Colin Lee left him out of the side a few times and making him wait for his chance. The Managers excuse was that Junior had to learn that it was a team game which to his credit, he learned it very quickly.

Striking up a partnership with the other Fans 'favourite' Jorge Leitao, (who has since said, that they have a telepathic understanding) who both speak Portugese. Junior, speaking very little English, relies on Jorge to convey any instructions from the bench during games.

Junior also had stints at French Club-Ajaccio and Belgian Club-Beveren. The Saddlers, have Junior on loan, until January 18th, from Brazilian Club-Treze, with the Brazilain Club contributing some of his wages.

He's sure to be up there in the goal scoring stakes at the end of the season. His finishing, is a joy to watch for Saddlers Fans, scoring all ranges of goals, from 30 yards to 6 yard tap-ins.
